BEWARE OF FAKE NJ, NY & PA BRIDAL SHOWS.
Bridal shows can be a place to meet vendors but beware of the immorality that goes on in the industry. Many vendors offering fake free gifts. One vendor offered a number of days free at a hotel on an island. However the small print on the certificate said the winner is responsible for taxes and airfare.  Another prize give away 20% off a highly inflated photo booth vendor’s price. The bride and groom could have gotten a better price online. A photo booth aside from the initial look is a photo booth, nobody remembers or can tell who had better ink ! Some DJs will claim they will throw in the cocktail hour. In case you did not know almost every DJ includes the cocktail hour, the most relaxed part of the evening. It’s like saying “Free tap water”.
Some of the bridal shows have all photographers or all DJs and the whole show becomes a big turn off. When shows have an over proportionate amount of one type of vendors they become desperate and over aggressive. One show had a fashion show that lasted over an hour. The room became quiet, people who discussed events were embarrassed & shunned by the operators. Fake travel agents aggressively sold time shares offered free gifts and the pressure was high. Show produced solicitor’s lists. Lists were were very bothersome especially when guests were never interested in the vendors who called for multiple times. Some vendors interrupted the victim’s precious time. Often callers irritated their prey & were never at the show.  Emails became flooded with spam. There were reports of vendors who ran sales offering “Cash Discounts” they took the cash, went bankrupt, never returned the money or provided the product.
Venders & attendees can spend hours being at the show. Food may be limited or not available at bridal shows. One show organizers told the vendors that food was off limits and only available to ticket holders. Who can possibly do a decent presentation when drained from a lack of nutrition. Guests were served plates of cheap pasta or thin pieces of cake, high in carbohydrates, starch, sugar and calories. There were booths who sold high corn syrup fried foods and soda for an inflated price.  Either way it was not a good way to fit in your wedding outfits or stay healthy.
Ways to prevent these issues from occurring is to know who your dealing with. Hire reputable and experienced businesses. It helps if you saw this vendor perform or your family or close friends used the vendor in the past.  Avoiding red flags is a decent goal. Look for all reviews, some are normal, some are fake but if there are too many bad ones from real people with the same legitimate complaints they raise red flags. Having little or no history, reviews or contact information to be found online is a red flag. Anyone can join a wedding vendor site for a small fee and then they are mysteriously in business. Vendors using aol, yahoo or gmail addresses may be too small to handle your event. If they failed to invest in a private domain, they will handle your event the same way. If the business card is cheap looking so may be the quality of the service.  A private domain name, email and website shows the vendor is running a more professional business. If private websites look fancy but only in existence for a short time, it also raises a red flag.
Bridal shows can be deceiving, hopefully you will see through the deception. Now that the practices have been exposed, you will be better able to find honest vendors. Wedding couples are smart enough to know that there is no such thing as free.  Even if someone really does offer something free it becomes discredited. Dishonest bridal shows & vendors insult the intelligence of potential clients. Honesty has welcomed people to join our family of satisfied clients.
